I’ve done a bit more tweaking of the site layout and content tonight, trying to make the main page a bit less busy, but also still visually interesting. So I’m experimenting with the post layout–let me know if you think the columns work.

I’ve also removed a few of the sidebar widgets. The Links/Blogroll widget has been turned into an actual Links page, since I had enough links that I thought they might as well have their own page. I’ve also created menu items for my Facebook and Twitter accounts under the “Contact” menu to give those higher visibility, and I’ve provided a link off to my annathepiper.org blog for those of you who might care to follow that. (I’m a lot more prolific on that blog than I am on this one, which remains writing-related!)

Meanwhile, I’ve updated the FAQ, Faerie Blood, and Defiance pages to reflect the status of my former Drollerie works. Since I’ve seen a few folks on Goodreads have continued to add me to their To Read lists (hi, Goodreads folks!), I just thought I’d issue a reminder: Faerie Blood and Defiance are to my knowledge no longer for sale with any ebook vendor. (If they are, and you can point me at a link, let me know! Drollerie needs to take any further instances of the book down if they’re out there.)

But if you haven’t read the book or the short story and you want to, I’ll be happy to hand-sell a copy to you. For Faerie Blood, I’m asking five dollars for an EPUB or PDF copy (and I’ll convert it to other formats on request). For “The Blood of the Land”, I’m asking 99 cents. The best way to pay me for either will be via Paypal to my gmail address, annathepiper. If you’d like to discuss alternate payment arrangements, drop me an email to the same gmail address, or visit my Contact page.

These prices will stand until my plans to self-publish Faerie Blood and Bone Walker go through, as per my previous Kickstarter post. Anyone who’d like to go ahead and buy Faerie Blood now will receive the Drollerie release copy, though I will also provide updated copies to known purchasers of the book once the self-pubbed version is ready.

Note also that I am pursuing self-pubbing “The Blood of the Land” with new cover art and layout; what you’ll get now if you want to go ahead and buy it is my manuscript copy. Again, though, if you buy the story now, I will keep track of you and provide you a free copy of the self-pubbed copy later!

As always, thanks for your support, folks. Y’all on Goodreads, hope you’ll like my book!

If you’re reading angelakorrati.com posts via mirrored means (hi there, LJ, Dreamwidth, Goodreads, and tumblr users!), you won’t see unless you click through–but I’ve done a little housekeeping. To wit:

New theme! Woo!

Standalone pages now have comments disabled and hidden.

My Contact page has been updated to include my Google+ and Tumblr info.

The page for Defiance has had it now-defunct buy links removed since the book is no longer available for sale.

I have added the capability to crosspost from WordPress out to Tumblr, now that I have an account there.

And, although I haven’t actually started this yet, be on the lookout for a rework of my How to Read Ebooks set of posts. Since we’ve had some changes in the ebook and ereader realm over the last several months (notably, the releases of the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, and the ability to check out library books on the Kindle), an update of that information is definitely called for. So watch this space for more data on that!

Decided I didn’t like the duplication of posts from annathepiper.org over to angelakorrati.com. It works as advertised, but I’ve decided that as spread as I am across various social networks, another layer of spreading wasn’t really necessary.

I will however be exploring other options to make it easy for people who visit the angelakorrati.com site to see the annathepiper.org content as well if they so desire. I’ll also be putting some serious thought into just merging the two blogs anyway, which would reduce the amount of WordPress housekeeping I have to do. Which would be nice.

That said, though, if you find you have a need for a WordPress plugin that can syndicate content for you, feedwordpress seems to work splendidly.

I got tired of looking at the same theme over and over again, and after a lot of failed attempts to find a new one I liked, I finally settled today on “2010 Weaver”, a child theme of the Twenty Ten default theme that came with WordPress 3.0. The big reason I chose this theme was to take advantage of the ability of WP 3 to do menus–and as you can see if you look at the site (or if you click through off of the LJ or DW versions of this post), I’ve got a fully functioning menu now.

Spent much of this afternoon setting that up and tweaking a bunch of the settings to get it the way I wanted it. Along with twiddling the theme, I also took the time to sweep through all the pages on the site and update them as best I could, so at this point everything should be current. Most notably, I’ve spun off separate sub-pages for both Faerie Blood and Defiance, on the assumption that if I keep selling material, more of my books will want their own sub-pages. I fleshed out each of these new pages with a bit of an excerpt as well.

And, I updated the In Progress page with a current working version of the blurb for Bone Walker! Here it is:

Two months after the rising of her faerie blood and magic, Kendis Thompson thinks she’s starting to get the hang of her altered life. Along with her boyfriend Christopher MacSimidh, she’s learning magic from Millicent, the senior Warder of Seattle. Christopher’s taking to his long-denied Warder power, and all in all, the two are happily pursuing their relationship.

But nogitsune are prowling the city, on the hunt for a fugitive child with powers of her own–and the Unseelie bard Elessir has escaped from his vengeful queen, bringing with him a curse that lashes out to endanger Kendis’ closest friend. Now she must confront these dual threats to her city and her loved ones, along with the uncomfortable truth that there’s much more to her Seelie heritage than she knows.

It’s only a working draft of a blurb, but hey, it’s an incomplete working draft of a novel, so that’s all good. Hope it piques your interest, folks!

Folks, just wanted to note that as of this evening, I’ve moved angelakorrati.com into the small network of blogs I’m now running off the same install of WordPress 3.0. I’ve done this to allow myself to use just one code base and common pool of themes and plugins, and hopefully it’ll make my life a little easier!

The domain name angelakorrati.com should now redirect to the new version of the site. Both angelakorrati.com and www.angelakorrati.com should work–if they don’t, let me know!

I think all my posts and tags and categories have come over, and if you’ve commented on a previous angelakorrati.com post your comment should still be here. So should your ability to leave comments without me having to moderate you. If you see any problems with that functionality, again, let me know.

About the only thing I know doesn’t work correctly yet are the polls. I haven’t done a proper export of that data yet, and it may take me a bit to get that transferred over. I know you’re all aching to tell me who your favorite character in Faerie Blood was, I know.

Anyway, long story short, I’m updating things.

For those of you who might be paying attention, I took a little time to update most of the pages on the site tonight, to properly reflect recent developments in Faerie Blood‘s purchasability (i.e., holy crap you can actually buy my book on Amazon now!). I also updated my Contact page to point off to my personal non-writing blog, annathepiper.org, and to mention the various LJ-like sites that this blog and annathepiper.org both mirror to.

And, I added in the missing June and July Drollerie Blog Tour links on the Extras page. Speaking of which, there will be no Drollerie Blog Tour this month since I do have a deadline I’m trying to hit. However, my fellow Drollerie author Rachael de Vienne, who wrote Pixie Warrior, is hosting a couple of guest posts that you might enjoy, so go check her out. She also posts lots of lovely old vintage photos as well, which are fun.

The Blog Tour will resume as normal in September, and with a topic that is of course near and dear to my heart: music. All y’all who’ve read Faerie Blood, if you have any requests for music-themed character vignettes or specific characters you’d like to see show up in same, drop a comment and let me know!

Either way, hiya. This is the inaugural post to break in my actual writer site.

Not too much to report here yet and probably won’t be until Faerie Blood comes out. I’m still awaiting the proposed cover art and requested edits from my editor, which will hopefully come in soon. We’re tentatively aiming to have FB ready to come out by March.

In the meantime, for those of you who haven’t already, I invite you to go around to Drollerie Press in general, and in particular, check out the first official Drollerie Authors Blog Tour.

If you’re already reading my LJ, you don’t also have to follow angelakorrati.com; I’ll be mirroring its posts over to Livejournal. Angelakorrati.com’s posts will be exclusively about writing news and interesting things happening with the books.

But regardless of how you read me, glad to see you doing so. Watch this space, whatever space that might be, for more!
